The first step to experiencing MANE'LY EXTENSIONS is to fill out the consultation form. After completing the form, you will be contacted to schedule an in person consultation. During the consultation, we will discuss your goals with wearing extensions, match your color, answer any questions, and will schedule an appointment for your install.
I want people to say, "Wow! Your hair looks great!" and not be saying,"Wow! Your hair extensions look great!" So it is important that I match your natural density. If you have thick hair naturally, be prepared to need a lot of extension hair to match! For fine hair, it is best I don't overdo it to avoid looking artificial! On average, each row holds 3-6 wefts (pieces) of hair. Length of hair will also play a part on how many wefts we use as longer hair is heavier and I don't want to overload the row. So in some cases I may spread the hair out across more rows.
If you are looking for just thickness, one row. Two rows are able to give thickness and add length (the amount of length depends on your natural hair density). Three rows of extensions can give you as much length as your heart desires!
The longevity of well taken care of hair is about 6-9 months. After this time, you will want to replace your extension hair. By this point, you may be ready for a color change anyway! At your appointment I will give you guidelines for the best longevity! Keep in mind that as you wear your hair, it will thin out and shorten over time with natural shedding and trims. Unlike your hair, the extension hair will not replenish itself. You can expect your extensions to shrink by a couple of inches over their lifespan.
It is not advised to swim in any body of water or pools. This can create extreme discoloration to lighter shades and overall damage to the quality of the hair. If you choose to swim, I have guidelines for you.
Yes! They can be altered slightly with color. I can root, tone, darken, and lowlight them. However, lightening them is not reccomended. If you want to change up your own hair color, we can simply add in a few wefts of new hair to mix the old with the new if it is a subtle change. Although, if you are wanting a big change, you will need to get new hair.
The ideal client has medium or fine hair that is at or below their shoulders without any short layers or strong blunt edges. However, you can still get these done if you have thick hair but desire length, if you have length but desire fullness, or if you want to add in color without affecting your natural hair. Please fill out my application and we can go from there!
Not at all! There are a couple of golden rules to follow, like using the right products, brushing frequently, and wearing a dry braid to bed. Number one rule is to NEVER EVER go to bed with wet hair. We will talk about all this during your appointment.
Ideally your first move-up appointment will be at 6-7 weeks. Following move-up appointments may be moved to 7, 8, or even 9+ weeks depending on your hair and how you care for it. I like the first check in to be a bit sooner so we can make sure your natural hair is handling the weight of the hair extensions well.Sometimes at home maintenance routines need to be adjusted if early signs of matting are present at this first check in. I would want to get those changes made before allowing longer between move-ups.
You may choose to schedule your move-ups in coordination with your color appointments. If you color your hair every 6 weeks, you may wish to go ahead and do your move-ups at the same time. Or if you don’t color as often, you may opt for a move up every 8 weeks and a color every other time. Or the opposite and color every 4 weeks with a move up every other time. We will discuss your personal preferences together and come up with the perfect plan for you!
